Child Health Monitoring

Child health development checks are provided by all the doctors in cooperation with the health visitors.

Maternity Services

A comprehensive service is offered by our midwife with support of all the doctors, including consultant-led care, midwife-led care and home delivery.

Antenatal clinics are held on Monday afternoons, with a bookings-only clinic on Friday afternoons.

Phlebotomy

Blood tests can be booked with our phlebotomist.

Alternatively you can also have your blood tests at the Pathology Lab's Lanseer Road Clinic. Appointments can be made online here or by calling 03331 032220.

Chronic Disease Management

We have practice nurses trained in the assessment and continuing support of many chronic diseases. These include: asthma, chronic pulmonary disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and circulatory disease.

Please ask at reception.

Asthma/COPD Clinic

The Nurse helps with assessment and treatment of asthma and provides information.

We have a Spirometry machine to aid the diagnosis of chronic lung conditions.

All these patients are invited into surgery once a year for a review.

Diabetic Clinic

Patients managed solely by the practice are sent appointments for a full check annually and an interim six months review.

When you are invited to clinic you will also receive an appointment to have blood tests 2 weeks before. It is important to have these tests even if you have recently had other tests done.

CHD Clinic

Long term management of patients with heart disease is being supported by the Nurse led clinic.

Your Doctor will arrange for the Nurse to follow you up and monitor your condition if you have heart disease.

When you are invited to clinic you will also receive an appointment to have blood tests 2 weeks before. It is important to have these tests even if you have recently had other tests done.

Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) and Stroke Clinics

Long term management of patients with Hypertension is being supported by the Nurse led clinic.

Your Doctor will arrange for the Nurse to follow you up and monitor your condition if you have Hypertension.

When you are invited to clinic you will also receive an appointment to have blood tests 2 weeks before. It is important to have these tests even if you have recently had other tests done.

Smoking Cessation Clinic

You can refer yourself or you may find your Doctor encourages you to book for this clinic.

The Nurse has had extra training in helping people quit smoking and our clinic has been proved to increase your chances of quitting.

Certain aids to stopping smoking are available on NHS prescription (patches, tablets etc.) but you must attend the Smoking Cessation Clinic to obtain them.

Your doctor cannot prescribe them in a normal clinic.

Well Women Check/Cervical Smear

Invitations are sent for cervical smears to women aged between 25–50 every 3 years and from 50-65 every 5 years.

At this time we take the opportunity to offer routine checks for health promotion. This includes exploring any concerns you may have about your general health, your family history, or your smoking, drinking and exercise habits. The nurse may measure your height, weight and blood pressure.

Please bring a urine sample to the appointment for other routine checks.

Your smear result will be sent to you in writing from the local health authority.

A reminder will be sent to you automatically when your next smear is due.

Well Man Check

You should have a well man check every five years and appointments are available for any age.

At this appointment with Nurse will discuss your general health, your family history, or your smoking, drinking and exercise habits. She may measure your height, weight and blood pressure and check your urine.

Family Planning

The practice offers the full range of family planning care, which is available during normal surgery times.

Dr Smith carries out coil fittings and implants.

Emergency contraception is also available.

Suffolk Clamydia Screening Programme

Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

You may not know you have Chlamydia as you may not feel any differant or have any symptoms.

Immunisations

1.    Child immunisation is carried out by the practice nurses in conjunction with your own doctor.For a copy of the Vaccination Schedule http://www.immunisation.nhs.uk/Immunisation_Schedule

2.    Holiday vaccinations and advice are available from the practice nurses. There may be a charge for these services. The practice is a registered Yellow Fever Centre.

Flu Clinics

The Current national policy is that influenza vaccinations should be offered to people of all ages in certain health risk groups.

In addition vaccinations are offered to all people aged 65 and over.

We start taking bookings in the Autumn, please contact Reception for an appointment.

Counsellor/Mental Health Liaison Worker

Referrals for counselling, anger management and anxiety can be made by your doctor via MIND. We also have a mental health liaison worker attached to the surgery.

Suffolk Carers

This is a carer support group who offer help and advise on benefits, assessing services, and respite care, etc. Leaflets are available at Reception.

Interpreter Services

For non-English speakers, this practice uses the interpretation services provided by Language Line. If you feel this service would be of help to you or others please tell the receptionist when booking your appointment.

Chaperones

There may be times when you feel more comfortable with a chaperone in the room during your consultation with the doctor.

If this is the case, please do not hesitate to ask, your doctor will be happy to arrange this immediately.

Minor Injury Service

During our opening hours 08.00-18.30 we provide a minor injury service. An appointment is required, alternatively you can contact the Minor Injury Clinic at Riverside.

If we are unable to treat the condition we will refer you onto the Minor Injury Clinic or the local A & E department.

Minor Surgery

Dr Ande can perform minor surgery. This should be discussed and arranged with your doctor during a normal surgery consultation.
